Maeda Construction 16 May 2006

***NOTICE***

The steps are now open for use!!!!

The railing hasn't been installed but there's temporary rails in place (thank goodness).  The steps are AWESOME!  Yesterday (23 May) I was able to comfortably walk up and down them with my double 63's on.  Even with the rain coming down in a virtual deluge, the steps were still safe to use.  I was sloshing over ankle deep as I walked down the carved portion and it didn't prove to be any challenge.

Please keep in mind that the steps are still under construction and may be temporarily closed from  time to time.

A look today shows the construction progressing slowly.  The steps are still closed EVEN AT NIGHT to all divers and snorkelers. A special coating is being applied to the steps and electrical work is also being done.  Water from those exiting damages the coating as it cures.  Exposed electrical conduit is also susceptible to water damage.  It appears that the steps will having lighting down at the foot level to illuminate the steps.  This is great!

Please respect the signs and barriers and stay off the steps until they are officially open.
